Meet Tom and Kris Swanson, owners and
crafters of aspen high design, inc.
We left our corporate careers of over 15 years and fulfilled
a lifelong dream to relocate to Colorado, moving from Nebraska
to Grand County in 1998. We first began creating custom designs
as aspen high
design in 1999 and have been
developing our unique style ever since. We enjoy creating each
piece personally for each individual customer . . . having shipped
to about 45 states throughout the country, including Hawaii.
Our goal is to make each piece of aspen furniture to our standard
of high-end perfection, paying attention to each and every detail,
using trees carefully selected for their character.

Nestled in the
aspen and lodge pole pine at 8,400 ft alt, we create in a small,
primitive workshop and aspen-sided finishing studio. No retail
store, no assembly lines... no factory-milled furniture here. Each aspen tree is personally selected, hand-cut,
hand-peeled, hand-drawn with a draw knife, then hand-sanded and,
finally, finished by hand... all by Tom and Kris, right
here in the quiet of the mountain forest.

| As artists and designers, we
enjoy shaping the beautiful aspen wood into unique creations.
Our combined manufacturing experience and knowledge, professional
backgrounds in engineering and artistic design, as well as special
attention to sanding and finishing goes into every piece. The
result is a strikingly unique and organic, yet high-end line
of handcrafted furniture that our customers tell us is heirloom-quality
art. . . . "sophisticated rustic" has become our trademark
design reputation. |
